West Austin: Do you know someone that commutes on 360?
Posted on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 @ 09:45:04 EDT by Admin

Advice Needed mcb writes "I'm considering commuting to work from the Arboretum area of 360 to Bee Caves and 360. Does anyone commute in the mornings, or ride early on weekdays, on 360? I've ridden 360 many times on the weekends, but I am a little nervous about the way drivers behave during morning rush hour. I will be starting out at about 7:00am.
Thanks for any help!"

I have made that commute once on a Wednesday at 6:30 am from the Arboretum area. Other than the ramps at 2222 and Bee Caves it was ok. The earlier you can leave the better the traffic.

I've been commuting 360 daily for the past 5 years. I don't recall any aggression on 360 from drivers on my commutes. What you do have to watch for, but it doesn't happen very often, is cars approaching backed up traffic. Sometimes they don't pay attention until the last minute and use the shoulder to bail out. Just keep an eye on the traffic and know you surroundings and you should be okay. You'll be able to see the situation developing.

I don't know if you will be crossing 2222 or 2244 on 360, but if so, be careful of those overpasses. The off and on ramps can be dangerous. Use your signals, be predictable but don't be timid while crossing these ramps.
