Regularly Scheduled Group Rides Outside of Austin: Sun City Cyclists

Joel writes "Looks like Georgetown has a cycling club, the Sun City Cyclists. From their site: There is great cycling in Sun City, Georgetown and the surrounding area. The streets in Sun City give you a smooth ride and the terrain is mostly flat with some moderate hills. Georgetown has a bike trail from San Gabriel Park to Lake Georgetown; there is also a mountain bike trail around the lake. The surrounding area gives you the opportunity to ride in the country on good roads with little traffic. Our Club offers a wide variety of weekly rides for cyclists of all levels, and we are actively promoting more and better access for cyclists on our roads. Please join us."

Regularly Scheduled Group Rides Austin Flyers

Joel writes "Cathie sent me an update on the Austin Flyers: The Austin Flyers has a couple of ride groups that you might be interested in. We have a very avid group of Off Road Riders which meet each Wednesday Night, folks interested can check the Austinflyers@yahoogroups.com for more info. Each week the group meets on a different Trail. We also have a Thursday Nighter at the Veloway, meet at 6:00 roll @ 6:30. Riders will get a chance to try different groups which are broken into skill appropriate intervals. Each last Thursday of the month there's the Autobahn TT where riders timetrial to track their improvement. Lastly We have a Sunday morning ride which leaves from Powerhouse Gym @ 8:00 this ride is a beginner/intermediate ride. We have a no drop policy, which means no riders get left behind, rides are about 30 to 40 miles. Lastly, the Austin Flyers is now a co-ed team. We have a nice mix of both men and women. This years focus for the Flyers is developmental, getting riders riding with more confidence and skill. That information is on the website also."
